Comparisons of the River Hems - October and November 2013
The River Hems is a small tributary of the River Dart. The Hems meets with the Ambrook just below Hemsford and evenutally the two rivers meet the River Dart near Totnes. In the pictures below there is a marked difference in the level of the river when photographed after some rainy weather in October 2013, and again pictured on a frosty morning in November 2013. Note that the river is very coloured by earthy deposits after the heavy rain storms, and on the frosty morning the river is crystal clear.
