FLOODING AT HEMSFORD 4TH JANUARY 2018
Its been almost 2 years since there was any significant flooding at Hemsford,(last flood Feb 2016) and this morning, 4th January 2018 we were woken to the sight of the river Hems breaking its banks and flooding over into our lake field. The flood was relatively minor and quite short lived but coincided with the high tide at Totnes and the wolf Moon giving high tides from New Years day onwards, and by mid morning the waters had completely subsided. The past few days have been the remnants of Storm Eleanor. The lake field at Hemsford as shown in these pictures was covered down to Ford bridge, and the river was very murky and fast flowing. Fortunately all our livestock was unaffected. With more rain forecast overnight, I am wondering whether we will have more in the next few days.
